Itinerary

1

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

 

Your safari starts with pickup from meetup point in Nairobi’s Central Business District at 0800hrs and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve with a brief stop at Great Rift Valley view point. Masai Mara National Reserve is situated on the south west of Kenya and its popular for its breathtaking landscapes and plenty of wildlife making it one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive as you traverse the vast savannahs and grasslands in search of wildlife.

Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast embark on a full day of game viewing within the reserve with packed lunch. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network which allows for close range viewing and photography. Masai Mara National Reserve is famous for The Big Five animals (Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhinos and Buffalo). What amazes travelers in this reserve is the annual migration of wildebeests. The animals shift on July and return on November and is among the seventh wonder of the world. The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion. Bird life is in plenty as wildlife at the Mara, which boasts over 400 different bird species.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park

Wake up at first light, grab a cup of coffee and leave the lodge to the nearby Masai Village where you have the opportunity to learn and interact with the local Maasai Community. Maasais are popular and better-known ethnic people in East Africa due to their traditional origins from areas surrounding Masai Mara Game Reserve and Amboseli National Park near the Tanzania border. The Maasai people have plenty of unique characteristics about their culture and some of these have been listed below, including their dress, diet and way of life. Return to the lodge for breakfast and later on embark on your journey to Nakuru arriving later in the afternoon for lunch, check-in, and spend the evening at leisure exploring Nakuru City.

Day 4: Nakuru – Lake Naivasha & Crescent Island

Rise up for an early morning breakfast, check out and then proceed to nearby Lake Nakuru National Park for a Morning Game Drive up to 1100hrs. Lake Nakuru National Park is a standpoint and harbor for watching more than 400 species of birds in rift valley. As you visit the lake, game animals are in large numbers. Hippos, buffalos and many species of birds with Flamingos prominently notable. Nakuru National Park is home to few remaining Rhinos in Kenya and also offers great sightseeing of larger predators like the lions and Leopards.

Exit the park driving further to Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch and check-in followed by an afternoon guided walk and boat ride at Lake Naivasha’s Crescent Island. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake and a birder’s paradise as it is home to over 400 bird species and over 1,500 hippos in the area. Located in the middle of Lake Naivasha as well is Crescent Island Sanctuary. The sanctuary has several walking trails and stunning views of Mt. Longonot, The Aberdares and the Mau Escarpment. Created thousands of years ago the island is ideal for hiking, game viewing and bird watching.

Day 5: Naivasha – Hell’s Gate National Park -Amboseli

After breakfast, checkout and drive to Hell’s Gate National Park and embark on a guided walk or drive in the park. Hell’s Gate National Park is characterized by attractions such as the Olkaria and Hobley’s, two extinct volcanoes and the obsidian forms from the cool molten lava. Within Hell’s Gate is the Hells Gate Gorge, lined with red cliffs which contain two volcanic plugs: Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower which is a smaller gorge that extends to the south and of which a path descends into hot springs. Ascend to the gate and exit the park driving further to Amboseli National Park with a stopover for lunch before proceeding to Amboseli arriving later in the evening before sunset.

Day 6: Full Day in Amboseli National Park

Rise up early for breakfast and embark on a full day game drive with parked lunch as you enjoy good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is possibly the best wildlife area in the whole of Africa to experience elephant at close range. Our game drives will take you to the observation hill to have a better overall view of the park including the adjacent marshy swamps. Wildlife is abundant in this park together with pelicans and other bird species. Your game viewing will be spread to cover the open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland.

Day 7: Amboseli – Nairobi

Early morning enjoy another game drive in Amboseli National park for approximately 2 hours in search of the Elephants, Lions, Hyena, and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to your camp for breakfast and then depart for Nairobi or request a drop off to the coastal region (Mombasa, Diani, Watamu or Malindi) at an extra cost.
